Dave Newell
Vice President, Regional, and Foster Care and Adoption Services

Dave Newell is regional vice president for the Capital and Los Angeles regions and for Foster Care and Adoption Services. Dave joined the leadership team of FamiliesFirst in 2006. He has more than fifteen years behavioral healthcare experience both in direct service and leadership roles.

Prior to EMQ FamiliesFirst, he served as the executive director of Denali Family Services and was the Chair of the Alaska Behavioral Health Association from 2002-2005. In partnership with his wife, Theresa, Dave also has eighteen years experience as a therapeutic foster, adoptive, and birth parent. His children continue to provide him many learning opportunities.

Dave received his Certificate of Nonprofit Management and M.S.W. from the University of Alaska Anchorage, and his B.S. in education from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. He is also an alumnus of the Alaska Humanities Forum’s Leadership Anchorage program. Dave is a member of the board of directors and public policy and advocacy committee of the Foster Family-Based Treatment Association, the National Association of Social Workers, and the Academy of Certified Social Workers.
