EMQ FamiliesFirst Crisis Nursery

The EMQ FamiliesFirst Crisis Nursery is a program designed to provide primary child abuse prevention services to families with children, birth through age five, who are experiencing life crisis or high levels of stress. It is during these times that children are at the greatest risk for abuse and neglect. The Nursery provides short-term “homelike” respite care for children, while parents resolve situational family problems that lead to neglect and abuse.

Since opening the Nursery in 2001, this vital program has successfully prevented the abuse and neglect of over 2,400 infants and young children in our community. Our successes have only been made possible through the generous support of the community. The Nursery depends solely upon community support to keep the doors open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Services are provided at no cost to families. At the Crisis Nursery we believe:

• Children come first! We provide a safe haven where children have an opportunity to thrive and be cared for while their family can tend to the crisis issues they are facing.
• Prevention is the most effective solution to breaking the destructive cycle of abuse.
• Parents should receive vital support in order to assist them during a crisis situation.
• Families deserve the opportunity to ensure the health and safety of their children.
