Kids and Families Benefit From Donations
Throughout the holidays, local businesses and organizations in the Central Valley pitched in to provide hope and help for kids in crisis during this difficult time of year.
Some highlights of generosity during the holidays included the Macy's Community Day which raised over $2,500 for kids and families in need of basics such as clothes, car repairs and help with utility bills. The United Way of Fresno County teamed up with Toys for Tots and donated over 150 toys for our underprivileged kids. Teens receiving our services and some of our staff joined in for a fun, four-day fundraiser at Whole Foods. Customers brought their purchases and donated to have them wrapped up in a gift basket.
Earlier in the season, the Community Food Bank donated 54 Thanksgiving meal boxes to some of our – very appreciative – families. Also in the fall, kids and staff were treated to a free introductory Aikido class taught by Sensei Christopher Hein, owner of Aikido of Fresno.
Thanks to all and to the individual donors who brought a sense of hope and caring to the season.
