Grant Keeps the Youngest, Most Vulnerable Safe
EMQ FamiliesFirst has been awarded a $10,000 grant from Kaiser Permanente in support of the Yolo Crisis Nursery – a child abuse prevention program.
The Yolo Crisis Nursery, a program of EMQ FamiliesFirst, opened in 2001 to protect the youngest, most vulnerable children from abuse and neglect when their parents or caregivers are in emergency situations and need a safe, nurturing place for their children while resolving their crisis. The Nursery provides emergency, temporary, and voluntary respite for children of families experiencing severe life crises, including homelessness, financial difficulties, domestic violence, or medical emergencies. Children are given loving care in a nurturing setting, while their parents receive the support and guidance needed to resolve their problems. The Yolo Crisis Nursery provides these services at no cost to families, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Since the Nursery opened in 2001, it has protected over 3,000 infants, toddlers, and preschoolers from abuse and/or neglect. Our successes are made possible because of the generous support we receive from the community.
Thank you Kaiser Permanente for helping to provide a safe haven for young children in Yolo County.
