Mental health problems can interfere with the way children think, feel, and act, just as they do for adults with mental health difficulties. These problems are real and painful and can lead to academic failure, family conflict, drug abuse, violence, or even suicide. A child’s current and future ability to lead a productive and happy life can be limited by untreated mental health problems. In addition, these problems can be very financially costly to families, communities and the health care system.

Our goal in this section is to offer access to helpful information on children’s mental health and well-being issues.  Please use the links on the left to access papers, reports, fact sheets, and websites that offer general information on these issues.

We need to help the children and change the system so that these children—our children—can grow up with a brighter future.
