EMQ FamiliesFirst Gift Drive Brings
Holiday Cheer for Kids in Crisis

Community Comes Together In the Spirit of Giving

Sacramento, Calif., Dec. 7, 2009--Once again this year, the communities of Davis and Woodland have come together to make the holidays a lot brighter for local kids recovering from severe abuse and neglect who might otherwise go without. The EMQ FamiliesFirst Holiday Gift Drive is well underway at companies and various establishments throughout the area.

Participating locations now have “Angel Trees” that are decorated with the Wish Tags of local children in need. To help, anyone stopping by can take a tag with a child’s name and age, purchase an appropriate gift and drop it back at that location. Donations are accepted through December 18th. For gift suggestions and Angel Tree locations, visit www.familiesfirstinc.org. Donations can also be delivered to the EMQ FamiliesFirst office on 5th Street in Davis.

“The Rotary Club of Davis, 3rd Street Jewelers, Greystone Apartments, Holy Rosary Church, Pioneer Elementary School, and Brooks Painting are just a few of the wonderful groups participating again this year to help out our kids,” said Richelle Donaldson, development manager at EMQ FamiliesFirst.  “Seeing smiles beam on so many young faces is the greatest gift any of us could ask for!”

“It is very rewarding to imagine the kids receiving the gifts when maybe they thought they wouldn’t get anything,” said Frank Acosta, owner of 3rd Street Jewelers in Davis. “All year we take, take, take, and this is the season to give.”
